Our Story

Here for Good: Grounded in animal health, productivity and welfare.

VetNZ was formed combining the interests of clinics from throughout rural NZ, with the simple goal of ensuring better veterinary services for our communities. With humble beginnings in the deep south through VetSouth, VetNZ now extends throughout NZ, and with investments beyond. We partner with like minded clinics, servicing the variety of animal health needs of a rural community, bringing the lessons learnt of building our own.

Bigger isn’t necessarily better, but we have found working together certainly is. Particularly when we can take away all the challenges of support services, so you can focus on your clients and veterinary practice.

We trace back to the 1920’s in Southland, 1940’s on the West Coast and the 1980’s in Waikato, coming together as like minded veterinarians. Our growth has been based on delivering better veterinary services to rural NZ, that appreciate the benefits of specialist support structure while retaining their local leadership.

Our veterinarians are our shareholders and our local leaders, relishing the opportunity to be hands-on with animals. At the same time they have the confidence that their business and people are being supported by the wider VetNZ team.

 Partners

We’ve grown over the years to bring in VetSouth, West Coast Vets, Veterinary Clinic Morrinsville and Selwyn Rakaia Vets into the VetNZ family, and supported them to grow in regional spread and client numbers. Each of these clinics is led locally, with shareholders within the business.

Year on year, these clinics have shown great results, increased return on investment for shareholders, and contributing to thriving communities they exist in.

Each clinic has a different focus depending on their local clients and community, so each operates in manner that suits them, leveraging our shared processes and procedures.

And it’s not limited to veterinary clinics that we have within our family, knowing that veterinary business has many influencing factors. VetNZ has invested vertically into the supply chain so to make sure that rural veterinarians can access the best research and products, no matter what.

RESEARCH

Our Innovation & Research arm at VetNZ is VetQuest. VetQuest exists to provide trust to veterinarians, clients, suppliers and community that our science is robust, our decisions are evidence-based, and our training and systems are rigorous and thorough. VetQuest undertakes complex research projects with the aim of improving the industry and positively influencing the future of farming and animal welfare.
